How My Grandmother Changed My Perspective on Life and Broke the Language Barrier. As a child, I often found myself in sticky situations. From mischievous pranks to getting in trouble at school, it seemed like I was always finding a way to push the boundaries. But no matter what obstacle I faced, my grandmother was always there to bail me out. She was my constant support and the biggest influence in my life. Without her, I would have given up halfway through the way.
Growing up in a small township, my life was sheltered and limited. I was surrounded by people who shared the same beliefs, culture, and language. But my grandmother had a different vision for me. She enrolled me in an Indian Creche, Primary School, and High School. At the time, I didn't understand the significance of her decision. But looking back, I realize that it was her forward-thinking and consideration for my future that paved the way for me.
Thanks to my grandmother's thoughtfulness, I see life in a whole new perspective compared to my township friends. I have had incredible experiences, traveling to new places, and immersing myself in different cultures. And the best part? Making friends and even dating individuals from various races. My grandmother's decision to broaden my horizons has given me a deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity.
But perhaps the most valuable lesson I've learned from my experiences is that we all think differently. And one common challenge that we all face is the language barrier. As a member of the Black community, I know & seen the struggles black people face when trying to communicate with individuals from other races. It can be frustrating and even limiting in some situations. But my grandmother didn't want me to be held back by this barrier. She wanted me to strive for greatness and break down any barriers that come my way.
So, when I think about my future, I don't just think about myself. I also think about the next generation, my future children. I want them to be better than me, to surpass my achievements, and to be leaders in breaking down language barriers. As a community, it is our responsibility to raise the next generation to be better than we are. And my grandmother has shown me that it is part of our purpose in life.
In conclusion, I am grateful for my grandmother and her impact on my life. She has been my rock, my guiding light, and my inspiration. Without her, I would have been stuck in the same mindset, the same community, and limited by the language barrier. But thanks to her brilliance, I have been able to see the world in a new light and break down barriers in my own small way. So, here's to grandmothers everywhere, for their unwavering love, support, and wisdom. Cheers!
